The last few months have been exciting ones for Sunshine Therapy Dogs in Guelph! In September, we hosted our third assessment and met some lovely new volunteers and adorable dogs, bringing our list of Guelph and Wellington County volunteers to over 30! Since our first call for volunteers in the area, we have received a surprising volume of volunteer applications. The compassionate Guelph community seems to truly understand the power of connecting with dogs, and are excited to spread comfort and joy throughout the region.
We are seeing an increase in therapy dog visit requests in Guelph as well. Recently, our volunteers have attended visits in elementary schools, secondary schools, libraries, non-profits organizations, nursing homes, employee wellness visits, and more! Our volunteers have also had the privilege of supporting individuals one-to-one, whether they are struggling with their mental health, experiencing grief, battling illness, or just needing a little extra comfort during a hard time.
